I just started fly fishing about a yr ago and I would like to get some help. The only thing I know about fly fishing is what I have seen on tv. Where is a good place to go to get lessons. I plan on trying to get some as an anniversary present form my wife.
Thanks
Ed

Check with your local BETTER fly shops. You are doing the right thing, going with a Pro (and preferably a certified instructor). Learning from a fishing buddy is usually the wrong answer, as you learn not only how to cast but also pick of any of his/her bad habits as well.

I learned in a town with NO instructors, and had to use books and videos. Sure wish I had all those hours back and without defoliating my and my neighbors front yards.

In this life there is fly fishing and tying...and then there is all that other stuff in between that doesn't matter.

Ed, this topic came up recently and this thread lists some of the options in the DFW area. Look for my post about halfway down.

I highly recommend going down to Athens on March 13 for Fly Fish Texas. You'll learn a lot at that event.

Good luck,
Rex
