The screw that tightens and loosens the tension collar on the shaft is stripped, would i have to replace the whole bracket or a part of the bracket ?

Its a Endura, Transom mount.

I dont know your trolling motor, but thinking about mine:

Which is stripped, the screw or the hole? If it's the hole, clean it up with a tap. Screw? Replace it, either way.

Now, Donald...please pick John Bolton for your running mate.

Two choices, as I see it.

1- Drill the hole out and tap it up to the next screw size and buy a new screw to fit.

2. Try to clean it up as it is with the same size tap...although it may be too far gone.

I'd opt for Number one...if it's possible. But I havent seen your trolling motor....so I'm guessing here. One of the pros may have an answer....like inserting a helicoil if there is enough depth to work with.

One other possibility: weld a nut on the backside of the threaded hole. You would still need a new, longer bolt with knurled knob, same size as present threaded hole and new nut.

+1 thumb Or if you don't adjust and usually run it in one depth postion you could put a hose clamp on the shaft above the bracket or better yet get a split collar. One like that is on a foot controlled motor that holds the two shafts together. I don't know if you can get them at an autoparts store or not. If not either a trolling motor shop or they might be cheaper at a place like Grainger or McMaster-Carr.

Sorry Old Frog, I don't know why it posted like that in your quote area. My typing started with the +1. Anyway, I found what you need in McMaster Carr. It's an FDA-Approved collar made of plastic. The two piece collar with a 1" bore has an O.D. of 2 is $14.79. I don't know if that is the size you need or not. This link will take you right to it.McMaster-Carr

Well I said it would. Click on "Two Piece Clamp-On" then click on "Plastic" Then look at the size you need. Man, I hate computers. mad
