It's getting to be an expensive proposition. I use braid and mono. I've been using KVD Line & Lure this last year and cannot find anything wrong with my line from last year on about 15 rigs.

I'm going to try not relining for the first time ever this year.

PS: I'm not connected with this product in any way. I've just noticed the difference it's made.

I welcome any and all input. Thanks.

On your braid do you spool it a little bit with somthing first then add braid? I read about it some were but cant rember it exactly.

I spool all the way with braid then turn it around when it fades. Then use a marker to camo it after that. All I use it for is Frogs or Buzzbaits in the slop with a hi-speed reel and the line never touches the water on the retrieve.

I use a mono backing on my braid reels, it helps with cutting in, and saves a little money. I use braid longer month or 2, but reline my mono and flouro on every tournament, bout every 2 weeks

I will respool the reels that get used the most for every tournament (3-4) thats twice a month, I use KVD on the rest. For my braid rods I back them with mono always, this will help with line slippage. I will respool these rods once or twice a season.

I see what both you guys are saying and it makes sense. I use the Shimano reels with the hole in the spool which avoids slippage.

Also, I'm not a tourney guy. I average about 8-16 hours a week, 48 weeks out of the year.

I remember many, many years ago when I only changed my line once a year.

Now I re-spool at LEAST twice a year! fish

I only respool when I notice a lot of twist. Usually just strip off 6 feet or so to get the nicks and go on. Using good quality line goes a long way.

Yes Lip Grip, When there is a problem, I'll respool in a heartbeat. I normally have enough rigs with me for it not to hurt the trip...as I'm sure we all do! wink

I never thought about reversing my braid, I'll save enough on that idea to buy another rig!

Just respooling can get you in trouble too, always check your knot & line strength.Even with new line you can get a bad spool,I have had to learn the hard way on this.Nothing worst than loosing a big bass due to old or a bad spool of new line.

Very good point sir! I too have been a victim of buying old or defective line!
