Is it a seperate unit that is bolted in or are you talking about cutting an integrated console out of the boat? I don't know enough about Rangers to know how their consoles are attached.

There are screws that go into the side of the boat as well as into the rod locker. I removed them and it will not move. Pushed very hard but only got a cracking sound. I was told that there is an adhesive that is the actual holding agent the screws were to hold it in place while the adhesive dries.

Yes, there is adhesive and it is strong...look at the Bass Boat Central web site for more information.

We did my 2007 Triton(removed passanger console). While the bolts and screws are probably different, I'd bet they used the same black, tar-like adhesive. We used about ten wood wedges driven in different spots and a drywall type, wide putty knife to separate the two surfaces. I had to buy rubber non-slip pads to cover the bolt holes and the screw holes. It looked facory, no one ever noticed the few small scratches we put in the boat. The adhesive clean up was the hardest part. I mostly used my finger nails and a plastic scraper as to not scratch the gelcoat. One small screw was hidden where the front of the console met the carpet edge. The screw was actually under the carpet. I

Glad it worked out. You'll have lots more room. Save the console, it'll be a plus when you try to sell the boat. I put all the mounting hardware in a ziplock and taped it in the glovebox.
