We live on the shores of Lewisville and every Spring when people start "bank" fishing we get a certain group of people (neighbors) who fish the bank behind the house. I have no problem with that but after they leave there are always beer cans, empty minnow bags, fast food sacks, etc, you get the picture, laying on the ground or floating in the water. There is also evidence of small camp fires on the bank. I know that a couple of these idiots probably do more beer drinking than fishing. I find myself taking a trash bag down there and cleaning up after the drunken slobs because often this trash ends up blowing in our yard. Does anybody out there have any advise on this situation? They are on corp property but we are withing city limits. Oh, I forgot to mention that if they catch a carp, they leave it on the bank to rot and stink to high holy heaven. Help!

First thing I'd do since it is not your property is get a video camera and film their littering and have the day/time stamp showing on it and hopefully they will throw a carp up on the bank to rot. Film where they go. Maybe you could turn it into a game warden. Or you could get a parasail and take off right behind them like the guy did on Lewisville, .

If it's close to the edge of your yard run a garden hose out there with a water sprinkler on the end of it when no ones there. Turn it on when they show up ! David C.

It's a problem on every creek, lake, and pond. 5% of the population ruins it for the 95% that play by the rules. Sometimes frequent rounds by the Game Warden will deter them since many of these people are illegal to begin with.

How about putting up a fake camera in your yard on a long pole looking down to the beach area. Put another sign close by the beach area with the words "Please do not litter, destroy, play loud music...The beach is being video taped" Violators will be reported and authorities shown these tapes. Hey not to mention if you put a motion light up, a real high beam motion light for night time. There are so many inexpensive camera's that go straight to a VCR and tv monitor. It would amaze you!

well placed 20' deep "Tiger traps" will deter most of these types of people. Especially if you fill it full of really angry raccoons. The garden hose/sprinkler is a good Idea, but fill the head of the sprinkler with blue chemical dye. Another way to deter these folks is to simply walk down as they are there..pick up a couple bags full of trash and proceed to empty the bags into their vehicles.
Life is easy. People make it hard.

Thank you for all your suggestions so far. If anybody else has any ideas please post them. I just emailed the TP&WD about the situation so maybe the game warden can catch them in the "act". I also must mentioned that my husband has asked them nicely to pick up their trash and to please not leave dead, rotting, stinking carp on the banks and almost ended up in a fist fight with one of them.

whiteperchgirl, Some kind of neighbors, huh? Try the TCPD, my house is adjacent Lewisville COE land off of S. Colony, and they were more than happy to respond to my call about the outlaw truck/jeep crowd running the bike/hike paths on the lakeshore at night a couple of years ago, caught them in the act, and I haven't seen them since. Still the occasional 4-wheeler, though... Good luck,

Your right, that's probably the thing to do. The next time I see them down there, I'll wait unitl they have had a 12 pack or two, then I'll call the TCPD. I guess people who don't respect themself have a hard time respecting others. I must say, I've enjoyed reading the responses to this subject!

Or pipe some very loud gospel music at them. Last thing a bunch of drunks want to hear is non-stop gospel music. If your lot is close to where they are congregating, you could rig a sprinkler and put up a temporary sign that says: "DANGER!! SEWER HEAD". Then turn on your water hose full force. They won't be sticking around to do a chemical test on the water. I would guess they would scatter in short order. You know with the aerobic septic systems nowadays this one would be fairly believable. That was fun.

Aerobic septic systems? There's an excercise I've yet to hear anything about.
Sorry, just had to add that.

1)How about a HUGE rotweiler, pit bull, or doberman on a very very long leash ? Sorry @$$ punks. 2) Hire some thugs to go beat the **** out of them, I bet they dont come back. 3) try and grow as many fire ant farms as possible along the bank. Just a few good weekends of that and they will problably find somewhere else to litter.
GOOD LUCK WITH THE TRASH AND THEIR TRASH !
