Do the battery operated filet knifes work worth a darn? If so, I notice that the battery packs state a 30 to 40 minute filet time, which probably means 15-20 minutes, correct?
If you have had luck, which brand?
If not, has anyone ever tried an electric filet knife and hooked it up using an adapter in your truck's A/C outlet?

I have an electric with a cord. I believe it is the American Angler (salt water edition). You can find outlets at almost any cleaning station, or kitchen. If you are out in the woods or too far from a plug, that would present a problem.
(IMO!!!)Electric knives are quick if you have a lot of fish to clean. It will cut the time down tremendously. But you will lose a lot of meat. I personally like the manual, you can sharpen it without buying new blades, you don't need electricity, and you get more meat.

I received one as a gift it was a cordless model..Anglers Edge I think was the brand...it did work great the one time I used it..and held sufficient charge for about the hour of fish cleaning...but the next time I went to use it the battery wasnt charged although it had been plugged-in. Long story short after reading the instructions again they dont recommend leaving it on charge..so I would say if you can remember to plug it in before you want to use it..It seemed to work as well as the corded model I use now. I also like to use just a good filet knife unless I have a tub load of fish to filet..then the electric makes the job go faster...

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Yes, regular knives works great until you start cleaning 75-100 a day and then the electric knives work wonders. To each there own, I have both and use both but not on big piles.

Well I don't have the problem of cleaning 75-100 fish per day. How could I justify a boat payment and all the tons of tackle I buy if I did?

For $ 99.00 bucks that thing better clean fish by itself.
