Does anyone remember this this boat from several years ago? Was thinkin' Champion but was to long ago for these old cells. Was pretty much a turd from what I remember about it. Friend is sayin' it ain't so (lot younger than me) about tha two motors on a regular bass boat................

Turd??? Far from it..
I am somewhat intimate with the project, for a couple of reasons.
The first was more or less a mold plug that Dave Schlick rigged a pair of 200's on. Mid 90's with no wheel torque, no chine walk, quite an interesting deal.
Then in '98 charger was making a big deal about the bass boat record from St. Louis to New Orleans. Porthouse wanted in on the deal, and built the one most people saw, the burnt orange 221 with the pair of 225 mariner pro max's. Kelly Power and I were supposed to run it on the mississippi challenge, but the bonehead went and got in a wreck, and couldn't make it. They sold it to an airline pilot in Pennsylvania.
They built another one, supposed to go out with 260 offshores, but ended up with another set of promax's. It went to South Florida.
They were fun boats to drive, but not really practical.

tha one with tha Mariners is tha one we saw at tha boat show in Ft. Worth. Don't remember tha color of tha boat. Was more interested in tha stuff on tha back. Had some real neat fabbed stuff ta make it all work. Whoever had it there told us it would run in tha 90's. Thought that was kinda slow for what is was since we had single motor "bass" boats runnin' lots better than 90's. I know "apples ta apples" but............... It was still a real interesting deal and with a little tweakin' who knows. Do you know where I can find pictures of it? My "friend" is pretty hard headed..............

I remember that boat. It was cover feature on Bass'n magazine or some bass mag. I thought it to be running like 94mph with twin 200"s. I never heard about it after that......

Plano Marine had the boat at the Dallas Boat Show and that is what they said about the speed. They were asking $63K I believe. I remember the boat well. I would like to do something crazy like that too but with Twin Merc 300's... Don't know if you can find a pic or not. That was before Al Gore invented the internet.

It was at the '97 Classic, find some pics from the show there and it should show up.

I remember that one well, we did non-stop demos, it was..well...heated.
The classic boats all had FICHT motors, they were blowing them up like popcorn.
