I have been wondering with all the talk about keeping shad alive I have not seen much about pure oxygen systems. Three years ago I bought a system and I will never go back to a pump system. I have tried most of the tanks out there and had good results but nothing like I get with oxygen.#1 My shad are more lively and healthy #2 I dont have wonder if my pump is working in the middle of the night and I dont have listen to the pump working when fishing. For a filter I use a small bag filter set up from Grainger that I run while I am catching shad and I can see clearly to the bottom of the tank. I also have noticed in Port A the guides are starting to use them too.Anyone else out there having good results with oxygen?

You not only need the tank but you also need a regulator and and a good diffuser.I bought my system from oxygen edge and it came with all you need plus a trans pipe for filling from a weldining tank. It was expensive but I wanted it and has worked well for me. Port Aransas Outfitters sells diffusers like the one I have. What I like about them is they put out VERY small bubbles. You also must filter the water some how. I filter the water with the same pump that I drain the tank with and only for maybe 30 minutes per day with small bag filters from Grainger. I dont have the part # for the filters or the holder for it but will be glad to post them as I need to stock up on them. Let me know And I will post them. Oh well quail season ended with a bang last weekend so bring on the CC hybrids!!!!!!!!!

Yes that is me in the bluewave. The hybrid fishing was great last year up until July 4th with shad and that is about all I do.I look forward to this year too. I think I will give trolling more of a chance when the shad bite slows down. In regards to a diffuser stone the one I have is about the size of a Coors can with a brass nipple. In the instructions they say to rinse with water and let dry out with oxygen on until dry when you are done with it.I also clean it up every three weeks with emory cloth while the oxygen is runninig and whith rinse water running over it.The reason you want to let it dry out with the oxygen on is so that when you turn it off it has a tendency to suck back the water into the stone and that is what plugs them up. The stone I have is VERY smooth and puts out lots of VERY small bubbles that are hard to see. I think that is the key to a successful system.
