Ok I will give you a laugh. I was driving my boat back to a shallow flat and had to drive through a row of them wild rose bushes that were really thick. I stood up to keep from getting my arms and face tore up while driving through them. when i got past the row I jumped back in the seat. To my surprise a branch about 6 inches long and full of thorns had fallen in the seat while I was standing. That SOB hurt like &*^%. I had to yank it out putting more thorns in my hand. It hurt for what must have been 3 hours. when it finally quit hurting it started itching like crazy. Needless to say the 2 hour ride home was fun I had to keep switching cheeks when driving. when I got home and looked in the mirror my butt looked like a old beer joint dart board. the next day they festered up. it took about 2 weeks to stop itching. I hate wild rose bushes.

Had to pull a hook from my 15 yr old boy's hand within the first 10 minutes of our tournament. Hooked onto about a 3 lb white bass on his second cast. When he got it in the boat and tried to remove the hook, the fish went wild and the hook stayed. Had to take a pic while both were still hooked together.(He hated me at the time but loves to show off the pic now)He was a trouper though, fished the whole 8 hours and forgot about the pain after he boated our first keeper.

Fishing a club tournament on Tawakoni. Fishing had been good and we had a solid limit in the boat. Battery problems were causing starting issues with the boat but I decided that was'nt enough. Stepping down from the back deck I rolled my foot and heard a distinct pop, kinda like a fresh sapling taken too far. I knew my foot was broke but like I said, we had a good limit. Got a jump start and managed to to get back to the launch where we sat for the next couple of hours. Weigh-in, got second, drove home, put up the boat and then went to the hospital. Yep, broken foot. Dang cold weather still has it acting up. I'll give you the Iron Man Award so far Mark. I would of made someone else at least clean the fish.

I was fishing at my tank in my backyard at about 2 in the morning with one of my buds. I start walking across the damn while my friend is about 40 yards away. Next thing i know i fall to the dirt wondering what just happened. My buddy had thrown a rock 40 yards while it was pitch black and happened to hit me right on the head. I ended up getting 7 staples that night. Does anyone have any fishing injury stories? This sounds like the Miracles of Alcohol

Caught a Strikeking red eye shad like a baseball once trebles went all the way into my palm. Reaction move. And my brother and I were fishing on the front deck of his boat and he went to cast and stuck a buzzbait into my head pass the barb. That one was real fun getting out. Ended up fishing the rest of the lil company tournament and won

I was fishing a small club team tourney on Cypress Springs 9 years ago and was by myself. One of the club memebers decides to help me load up. The ramp is a little steep so I had my boat engine engaged at a fast idle while he was hooking the front of the boat. He held his hand up for me to stop so I took it out of gear. Well he evidently did not have the hook fully on, cause the boat slid back and the hook pops loose and breaks out his front 2 teeth.

After lauching the boat and parking the trailer drove back to camp got out walked around the truck right into the hitch so hard I couldnt hardly stand up and fish the tournament the next day.
Also had a fish one time come lose and sent the lure flying back at me driving one of the hooks into my arm past the barb.
The worst I think was when I was a kid fishing with my best friend on the brazos river. We were trying to cast all the way across the river and he clocked me in the head with his lure and of all lures it had to be a one ounce Little George tail spinner.

I once lipped a double digit Bowfin caught at night on a buzzbait. Kinda like playing tug of war with a Pitbull that has hold of your thumb. March 93 Lost a leaf-spring on my trailer in the fog on Hiway 17 at Fork. Put my hand on top of the fender so see why the trailer was sitting lower on one side... smelled something cooking and it was ME OUCH! Pat Mayse Oct 87 Had a buddy hit a stump while I was in the back unhooking a large hybrid caught on a Rat-L-Trap. I fell to the deck below and the hook went thru the side my left index finger middle knuckle. The large Hybrid started thrashing extracting the hook and a 1/4 deep gash torn thru the side of my middle joint resulted. My tournament partner wanted to take me into Paris to get stitched up.. told him I ain't got time to bleed when I'm fishin. Whataburger napkins and electrical tape were the first-aid repair materials of the day.

I once had a bass jump into the boat, on its own, and hit me right in the Nads! Seriously!
I was quietly moveing along a section of hyicen on the river portion of Choke canyon, where I had located a large concentration of spawning fish! Every once in a while, my boat would run over the top of a bed, and the fish would spook and jump. The water is very muddy, you cant see them and they cant see you! Fish were jumping out of the way the whole time.
We actually had 2 5 lbers jump into the boat that day! One landed on the deck and the other one hit me below the belt! Hurt like heck but funny as H E double LL! Got a great pic on my phone of the fish. Was fishing a tourny but did not count these two fish to my limmit!

I've had the tennis elbow from fishing and too many times hooking myself. The two that really stick in my memory are:
1) Fishing in the marsh as a kid with my dad and brother. The Redfish are running and we can't get our lines out fast enough. My brother gets excited and slings his bait shrimp on a 3/0 hook right into the back of my calf and buries it past the barb. I about killed my brother after I pulled it out.
2)Throwing a Super Spook on Lake Bruin in Louisiana. Missed a big top-water hit. Spook is flying at my face. I pick my hand up to block it and put one of the trebles through the meaty part of my palm below my thumb. Cut off the barb and pushed it back through. Put some peroxide on it and kept fishing.
<'((==< I'm just a jerk on one end of a line waiting for a jerk on the other end. >==))'>
