I was fishing at my tank in my backyard at about 2 in the morning with one of my buds. I start walking across the damn while my friend is about 40 yards away. Next thing i know i fall to the dirt wondering what just happened. My buddy had thrown a rock 40 yards while it was pitch black and happened to hit me right on the head. I ended up getting 7 staples that night. Does anyone have any fishing injury stories?

Dislocated middle finger setting the hook (hand slipped off the rod) six months ago. Still hurts. Probably need surgery.

Just curious why your buddy would be throwing a rock at 2 in the morning fishing.Kinda strange,and 40 yds not like he even knew himself what he was trying to hit in pitch black.

My worst injury came on Monticello in the parking lot. Went to step off the back deck onto the fender of my ranger trailer and hung a toe on the railing. Toppled over like a statue and broke my elbow and busted a couple of ribs. That was noon and I had friends in town from Houston for a day of fishing. We left there and went to Fork and landed 4 limits of crappie before calling it a day. Elbow swelled up and I could not crank the reel so I would hold the spinning reel handle and crank the rod in a circle, got the job done and the crappie cleaned. Went to the hospital about 3am that morning when a doctor who played late night bingo where my wife worked seen my big purple elbow and suggested I might want to get some help with that.

I wrapped line around my hand in an attempt to break braid and didnt wrap enough times and cut my hand open about 3" when it slipped

I was trying to tie on a hook and had my rod hanging beside me when my brother walked by and stepped on it and sent the hook all the way through my thumb.

I dont feel so stupid now! I have been guilty of the same thing!


I also riped my leg up real good one time when i caught my knee on the edge of a busted tail light on the boat trailer! Blood everywhere!!!

All of a sudden some unknown massive bug comes flying into my face and won't leave me alone. Talking on the cell and ducking my head while sitting down I end up smashing my head into the edge of the console winshield. Blood is squirting everywhere out the side of my head, my girl is screaming, and I'm now pissed caused that is the end of my top-water bite.

I end up driving to Clint's house and he uses this liquid stitch to close the gash. I now have a nice scar on the side of my head and that was the last time I was on Gilmer...

I get Tendonitis {Tennis Elbow} quiet frequently in my elbow, most of the time from setting a hook on nothing.

Yep, my EGO and Pride got hammered my First Tournament to ever fish.....Was the best thing that ever happened to me.

I also got a treble hook in my leg and then while trying to get it out got it stuck in my finger and was in a BAD BAD mess.

Casey you was a BAD BAD mess before that day happened. JK Maybe LOL

July 4th 2007 I broke a toe on left foot, cracked heel on right foot and tore rotator cuff in right shoulder. All three seperate accidents but all on the same trip.

First was the toe when I slid into the water off buddies dock to work on his lift. Didn't know the about the 2' boulders on the bottom.

Second was the heel. Getting out of the boat in the parking lot after loading on the trailer. Was stepping out onto the trailer and realized I was going to be stepping on the fender with the broke toe foot. Jumped off and landed on my heel (barefoot) on the concrete parking lot.

Third was the shoulder. While putting the cover on the boat I tried to step out of the front of the boat. Foot slipped off the trailer and I went between the boat and trailer but never let go of the hand rail and 260#'s hanging from one arm is not a good thing.

To top it all off, that was fisrt weekend to have that new boat.

I hate to put this in the bass section (but at least I was using a bass lure � a zara spook). I was musky fishing in northern Wisconsin a few years ago when I boated this musky. I was holding the line above the lure and reaching for the bait to take it out of the fish's mouth when the musky struggled and the lure broke in half. The half still attached to the line shot up and the treble embedded in the meaty part of my other thumb. Buried way too deep to extract � so off the emergency room. When I was all done after a couple of hours of shots and the doctor digging around to get the hook out, he hands me a certificate. Hook removal number 259 for the year. The ER was decorated with all kinds of lures they had extracted from fishermen over the years.
