Wow...I have fished that lake for a few years now looking for her! Congrats, that is a beast on the vine! Are you/BPS planning on releasing her? well she isn't there b/c this bozo took her to bass pro!! Have BPS put her back in the lake where she belongs!! nice fish though!! you caught her in Scotts Landing Huh?? From your comment, I wonder if you have actually thought about what the Basspro and Cabelas tanks do? Growing up we did not have such things, and I can tell you from experience, that I can take my two youngest sons 1 and 3 to BPS and they will stand in amazement and watch those fish for over an hour, then not want to leave. And it is my 3 year olds choice on going to BPS instead of chucky cheese to see those fish. What better marketing can you get for fishing and the outdoors for our youngsters than that?

Skyman..
I have and I am all for teaching the kiddos about fishing, conservation and the outdoors in general. I live near the vine and I can tell you that it gets hit hard. You don't often see a fish that size come out of that lake. Personally, I would like to see her go back if only for the genetics. This way our kids can enjoy fish like this in future. There are pleny of farm raised fish to fill the tanks.

I kinda knew that one was coming sooner or later. I can assure you the fish I caught still has a very strong jaw. She bit me and a guy at BPS with some pretty good force. I never knew a bass could chomp on you like that. I have had some big cats that will put a hurt on you, but never a bass. I will however try and make it a point to handle any other hawgs I catch as gently as possible.

I respect your opinion. I am though entitled to have my own as well. That fish had contributed for many years and spread her genes. We have no way of knowing if she would ever make another spawn. Way to many things could happen like eaten by a huge gar or catfish, caught for dinner or hit buy a boat. I have seen local fish spawn out and die at about that same size. She was already blind in one eye so she had some problems. The slot on Grapevine is the reason fish like that are even available today. I have earned the right to take that fish from the lake. I cannot count the number of over the slot fish I have put back in that lake over the years that legally could have been kept. I do my part to make sure all the fish I catch are released in great condition and this was the first bass I took from the lake I have fished consistently since 1994. And you should start coming to a few of the weigh ins and you will see that the lake can produce some pretty good fish of that caliber more often than you may think.

Congrats on a great looking chunk! I hope to see her in the tank at BPS grapevine! Hopefully being on display at BPS can encourage more fishing from youngsters, and a relaxing stress free life for this fish.
