Caught bunches and bunches of sand bass on Ray Bob Monday and Tuesday. Monday my oldest son, age 19, fished with me to catch 53. Found birds working out from Lantana Lodge. There were also 3 or 4 water turkeys diving in the area too. Have always heard they are the best indicator of all. We caught most of em on a hump that came up to 25 feet. Rarely marked any on the graph but they were there. Gently bouncing a chart/white slab would get you hit. Sometimes the slab would never make to the bottom. Sometimes they would thump it, thump it again then BAM, hook up. Real fun!
The next day, yesterday, friend and neighbor Chuck (ChuckH) and I hit the same spot and caught another boat load. Soemthing tells me I'll be putting those honey-do's on the back burner for a while. See the pictures at my site.

Went back out to Ray Bob Thursday evening and slayed the white bass again. Woohoo!! Chartreuse was the color of choice. The birds showed us where they were again, along with a couple of water turkeys too. It was in open water out from the lodge again. There is a hump that comes up to 19 feet surrounded by about 50 feet of water and they were on top of it. The action didn't start until about 45 minutes before dark but it was a fun 45 minutes. Some of them were big with big fat bellies on em so we threw em all back so they could make more.

Went back out Saturday evening and found them in the mouth of three fingers. Caught 30 this time. The chartreuse slabs performed the best again. Can't seem to find em until just before dark but the last 4 times out we have really done well.

Took my 12 year old daughter out yesterday and got into them up Isle Dubois about 1pm. It lasted on and off for about 2 hours but one of them was a verified 2.5 lbs. the rest were 14-16 inches and fat. lots of fun. She also caught a nice black bass in the same general area. Kudos to the gentleman that shared what bait he was using to catch the sandies on. We were catching a few, but really got into them when we took his advice; so who ever you were in the white bass boat on the east side of the branch, thanks you gave a dad some nice memories.

The wife and I found them on the west side of the lake Thursday. They were holding tight in a relatively small area near a sharp dropoff We probably fished that spot for 1 1/2 hours and caught them pretty steadily. Pretty much all over 10" (we didn't keep them so I wasn't checking too close). The first one my wife hooked weighed just over 2# and gave her a heck of a fight . Schooling sandies are a great way keep someone interested in fishing. Lots of fast, hard fighting action. I hated to do it but we left with them still biting, I don't know how long they held in that area, but we sure had a good time with them.
