My two kiddos, Jamie and Zach were off school today so my wife and I took the day off also. We don't get enough time to all fish together so this was a good opportunity. Jamie had an early key practice so we didn't get on the water till after 9:00 but it didn't take too long to find some sandies. We fished in the cove at Kate's Woods to start out. Saw lots of shad getting chased. Turned out to be very juvinile LMB chasing them. We headed toward the island next and graphed lots of fish on a hump about a quarter mile East of the island. For about the next 20 mins. it was a fire drill. Couldn't even get our slabs to the bottom. We had 3 or 4 fish hooked up constantly. It didn't last long though. Only about 20 mins. like I said. There were still lots of arches on my graph but now they had suspended and seemingly shut down. We went to Murrell, Twin Coves, and Meadowmere without results. Decided to take it easy and do a little trolling and my wife,Jo, caught a nice 27in. blue cat. By now it was about 100 degrees so we headed in. 14 nice keepers in the box and a total of about 40 fish caught all together. Not a bad day. Hey guys and gals, take those kids fishing. You'll always be glad you did.

Sounds like a pretty good day. I will have three excited kids in the boat tommorrow morn out at the vine. Nearly had my wife in the boat too, til she found it was an early morning trip. I went and bought several Jet Divers as backup if I cant find some active fish to slab, and then a couple of Gameboys if that fails me...
