Really good topwater and slab bite last night in the Pelican Island Area, and back toward the greenhouse, in 20-30 feet of water until the wind got up!

Best fish of the evening was a 5 1/2 lb hybrid, caught by my 12 year old daughter, Hannah! flehan

,,,,Actually it was the best fish of trip, since the brisk south wind made fishing really tough today! I really felt like that this could have and should have been an A++++ day, if not for the wind.

All fish caught on long skinny silver slabs, tailhummers, and chugbugs!

Will be back out again in a couple of days, hopefully the wind will be more forgiving!

Way to go, Monty! Yes, strong south winds can make RC tough.

Did you cast and retrieve the slabs or drop them vertically? What color Tailhummer did you use?

Are you going to enter the Lewisville Sandbass Tourney on the 18th?

Hey Bob,

Mostly cast and retrieve, bounce along the bottom and pull through suspended, but we also did some vertical jigging.

The tailhummer colors were blue/white, black/white and a shad colored one that has a scale pattern on it with a streak of black on top and a streak of purple on bottom.

I've always had really good luck with the shad pattern one!

,,,,,,,,,it's the purple on it I guess! wink

I hadn't heard about the tourney on Lewisville,,,,,are you fishing it!

Hey Monty,

Congrats to Hanna; and Monty it sound like your always getting outfished by the pretty ladies in your boat... oh well... that's what it is all about isn't it! BTW... Thanks for the trip last week. We'll go it again in July sometime.

Bob, Cherie wants to know when you and her are going fishin this summer like you mentioned at TMEA (I don't know if I'm invited on that trip or not), but anyway... if you need an extra hand in the boat, just let me know. Hope you and yours are doin well.

But, yeah it always seems that I get out-fished by the women in the boat! ,,,,,,,,I taught them well! rolfmao

But seriously, we'll definately go again sometime before summer's over!

HB22, I suppose you can go too...if I HAVE to take you! Doesn't Cherie have to work during the week? If so, I guess we can go Saturday after next. Koen and I are supposed to fish the Lewisville tournament on the 18th. Shipley wants to go next Friday. Danny Prado is also on my list.

Thanks, Monty for the info. Yes, I have all the colors of Tailhummers you mentioned....and yes, they are are all winners! I have begun to use Humdingers in 3/4 oz. They work well, too. I received a sample slab from Bobby Burgess that I am anxious to use also.
