So I have power pro 30lb braid on my spinng reel my reason is because I don't want to chance a Frey when skipping under docks. Any way my question is this should I tie on a mono or fluro leader for my drop shot rig? If so should I use a swivel or tie directley to the braid and proceed to tie the drop shot? Thanks for the help guys

i use 50lb braid and 14lb suffix... use a swivel most likely if you break off with a swivel you will just have to retie the suffix fluro to the swivel because the braid wont break... when you tie directly you have to tie it back to the line each time and that becomes a pain...

I use 15# braid on all my spinning gear, and tie 6-10# leader of FLOURO. Open water, 6# flouro. around cover, i'll go to 10#. As for leader length, usually never more than 12-18"

I would not use the braid in any fashion for drop shotting because this is an ultra finesse tech. Whenever I bust out the drop shot it is cause things are real tough, and under these circumstance line makes a difference. I never dropu shot with more than 10 lb flouro, on small fish lakes ill go down to 6 lb!
However, if you just have to use braid then make sure to go with a flouro leader!

i prefer 8# seaguar invisX. I agree, i also like to use a small spro swivel about 10" above the hook, this will elimanate line twist which will weaken the line. also dont be afraid to use small hoohs, even on big fish. they will grab tissue and wont let go. i use an owner 1/0 mosquito hook. weight wise i use the river to sea pencil weights, they are tungsten and reall help you detect bites when the rig is on the bottom

I just dont like the visibily of the braid and the swivel. I just personally think that fish might shy away from it under the circumstance that I would choose to throw a dropshot. Most places that I would throw it are very clear water. However, this is just my preference, if you think it doesnt matter than go for it, as long as you are catching fish than do your thing. But, if your not catching, try just he straight flouro., it may help!
