http://i675.photobucket.com/albums/vv120/fishindude/1265721388.jpg?t=1265721448I just got this email and searched for it on here and couldnt find it. Has anyone seen this picture? Photoshopped? This Sturgeon was caught on the LAKE OF THE WOODS, KENORA, ONTARIO two weeks ago. It weighed out at over 1,000 lbs and measured out at 11'1". It was 56" around the girth and took over 6 and a half hours, and 4 dozen beers, for the 4 guys taking turns at the reeling it in. Any Sturgeon OVER about five feet has to be released unharmed and cannot be removed from the water. They are brood / breeding stock and probably older than most of us.

That pic has been circulating for a couple years.
just googled sturgeon in Lake of the Woods. The species found there is the Lake Sturgeon,( threatened) w/ the largest ever recorded being just over 180k (396#)
The Sturgeon in the pic is a White sturgeon, one of only 2 species that reach that size ( Russia has the Beluga)
The only place that I know sturgeon get that big is in the Columbia river, seperating Oregon & Washington. Trying to remember, but I think the story I saw with this photo specified the fish was caught out west. just my opinion, regardless, a Huuuuuge fish!

Yeah, I've caught plenty of Lake Sturgeon back home, they don't get near this big. This is a White from river mouth in the Pacific North-west. I remember reading the story.
I will say this, nothing out pulls or jumps quite like a Sturgeon in fresh water. They are extremely strong.

Didn't the "WGFS" just do a show on sturgeon fishing? Zona and Tommy Sanders were hauling in fish at least that big.

I the Land Between the Lakes park in Ketucky I saw an aquarium full of sturgeon fingerlings. I don't know if they were just for show or that they were going to be introduced into Lake Barkley.
