it has that frosted look and seems to be pretty thick. walked into the bathroom yesterday and the shower door has a crack 1/2 way down! i have NO idea how it happened...anyway, i would like to replace it with see through glass instead of the frosted look. how hard is it to replace? i have no experience with doors like that. can i use regular glass? thanks in advance for the help!

need a pic to show what type of door it is, some just lift out and are easy to replace, some are on hinges and need a little more thought to replace.

We DO NOT want to see you in the shower when you take the picture...In fact, NOT seeing you in the picture would be a great thing...thumb

has to be tempered glass. take frame apart, measure glass and take measurments to a glass shop they can order a piece tempered for you. but usually it costs nearly as much for the door glass as a whole new unit

state/city code says it has to be tempered. if you fell into it it should shatter not break into pieces that would more likely cut you worse. if you tell the glass shop what it is for they will only sell you tempered

if it is just a single shower door unit without any glass side/surround walls most of your home improvement stores have them pretty cheap. a 24" to 26" shower door unit with 2 glass sidewalls will run about $900.

Or plastic, acrylic, or a shower curtain and duct tape the cracked glass.

That would look good up in Arkansas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there are 2 types of shower doors, on the tub that slide and can be replaced easily, the kind that are for a shower only, the second can be more costly and difficult to replace, hence the picture then I can give you some advice.
and yes it must be tempered no matter what, this is a critical safety issue.
