Unless you're feeling really lucky, take the eight foot net across the lake. Legal limit in Texas waters is a seven foot radius. Look for the bait to be in the open lake on shallow banks, spawning. mark www.texomasportfishing.com

Unless of course he means 8 foot in diameter which would technically be a 4 footer.....

It's getting to be that time of year when the shad will be on the rocks that extend out into the main lake.
I've been finding shad in the coves (like Mark said) as they are spawning. I've been throwing in 1 to 2 feet of water.

Yeah throwing tacos......then drives around till he finds JD or Stewart and begs. RU look for wading birds gathered in shallow water or on banks. They've already found them.

True, however a 7 foot net taco has a pretty big area! When I can't get it to open, I let my wife throw it. JD and Stewart make this bait thing much more enjoyable and less stressful. Nothing like being friends with the Master...uh, BaitMaster!

Mr. 500K, If you were going to be there this weekend (Sunday), I sure the boys and I could load you up, but since you are going to MS.....well I guess we could still load you up but I am going to need JD's help . I just stopped by Academy (Forest and 75) to pick up a few 4" Chug-Bugs (hope to get the boys on some Top water). Scott Storm gave me a dozen of the larger Bugs a few years ago when they still owned them, and I didn't even know how to use them (they don't look anything like Live Bait). Those larger Chug-Bugs are really hard to locate in the Dallas area (Bass Pro doesn't have them and neither does Academy). Does anyone know where I can purchase 6" or larger Chug bugs? Looking for Bait....get on the lake early, drive around the lake and into coves. You will either see the shad hitting the surface, Birds, or someone else already there catching bait.

Mike, the TackleBox usually has the big ChugBugs.
And, last time I went to BPS they had the big ones, but they were over in the Saltwater lures section....Did you look over there??
I can't remember for sure, but seems like Barlows even has the big chug bugs.

Kahuna, ouch, that nephew thing hurts. I had forgotten about that no-good, oxygen wasting, slime ball. Thanks for reminding me of that! It was just a little friendly competition on the 500K thing. (I had a hacker rig the contest.) I wish you coulda won, too! Mike, thanks for the offer of "supplying shad while I'm gone", but I'll pass. What do you mean "JD's help"? He claims that he is totally innocent and that "certain people" framed him!

So basically get there way before the sun does and just look for bait hitting the top of the water? Reminds me when i used to commercial fish out of Miami, throwing the 14 footer! Man is that a work out!
on a scale of 1-10 (1 being the least and 10 being the most) how difficult is it to find bait on texoma, texas side?

You can get bait on the rocks anytime during the day. beter at first light but still doable in the sunlight. 8- meaning fairly easy. you can also get it under the lights in most marins and may be some on the tires as well

Boy, ever since Mr. 500K shut down the 6OG server, I've been feeling withdrawls. Mike, Thanks I looked at Bass Pro Shops, I had a job interview at BPS in the middle of March and we looked for them then. They didn't have them in-stock, and only offered them in the catalog. I don't even know what BPS was offering, but I think that would be a very fun job (it was for positions in the fishing or Fishing electronis area). They wanted someone that could work Friday evenings, Saturday, and Sunday (sorry, the children have sporting events on Sunday). However, it would still have been fun. Where can you go and walk into an interview and talking about the outdoors (mostly fishing) for 95% of the interview. I haven't tried the tackle box. I will stop by there this weekend. Are they open on Sunday?

Mike- I'm going to be fishing Sunday morning and could bring you some big saltwater chug bugs. Let me know (email or cell) if you're interested and how many you want. We can trade them for bait BTW, I usually get mine at Barlow's in Richardson or the Fishing Store on Lover's (west of tollway) if you're down this way. I'll holler at you guys this weekend. matt
