Wife and I drove to CBSP Saturday afternoon late. Got there about 5pm and the headquarters office was closed for the day so we didn't talk to anyone. There were 5 tents set up and one RV but the river was running muddy and fast and didn't see anybody fishing. Drove to the ramp and saw it was in the water but not sure how deep with the muddy water. River is still 6 to 8 feet below normal. Met a lot of vehicle traffic both coming and going so everybody seems to be excited and looking for things to improve.

Looks like a slight chance of rain this afternoon, & a 60% chance of rain tomorrow. This is great, the ground is so saturated any little amount goes staight into the river. The ten day forecast calls for rain every couple of days. Everyone keep doing your rain dance...

Spoke to some guy (I suspect a Park Ranger) named Jesse today and he was saying the river is up and muddy, but was still spouting the "party line" that the lake is 22 feet low and there will be no run due to the sandbar. I think I hurt his feelings by telling him to go to the LCRA website for Lake Buchanan and he would see where the lake has come up over 13 feet in the last week. Its now only 9 feet low compared to historical averages for February. I wonder where he thinks all the water has been going for the last week!!! My bet is that there will be male Whites in the river by next week - depending on the water temps.

That is NOT correct. The lake is NOT up 13 feet. It is up 6 ft. The level is 1003.25 ft as of Sunday night.

Go here to see the level and scroll down to see the forecasted level also.

So, roughly, we only need about 8-9 more feet to get it above the sandbar. LCRA's projection in the next day is 1004-1005. With the rain today hopefully it will be more than that. Looks like we have more rain in the forecast also. It is going to be close as far as getting there but Im hoping it does.

Another quarter of an inch so far north of the lake today. Gosh, things are really looking up. 10 day outlook shows 70% chance of rain on Thursday and another 60% chance next week. I cant help but get excited.

You and me both!!!!!
Does anyone know if you have to cross a property line in sulphur springs camp to make it to the falls. I was told the park will slam you if you get caught crossin the fence in the camp.
Thanks

TPWD has a limited access rule for the falls. You HAVE to take the tour from CBSP. That is how I read the sign noidea. I just paddle upstream, anchor the 'yak and fish away.

"So, roughly, we only need about 8-9 more feet to get it above the sand bar"

NO, its already well above the sand bar and no one knows what is happening to the sandbar based on the stream flow. Its possible that the sand bar could be gone or could be bigger or somewhere in between. Lets hope for gone or smaller. It was almost over the sand bar last year at this time. Its not a 20 foot high sand dune.

Another 6/10th to 1" scattered amounts here today and the Colorado is back up to 4' above normal so look for some more runoff from here in two or three days.

I was hoping for more rain yesterday, hopefully we will get more over the next few days. It would be great for the lake to get to 1010 before the end of the month. Keep your fingers crossed.
