i got a (new to me) bass buster with a trolling motor, marine battery, and charger, took it out the first day and the motor lasted about 2.5+ hrs, charged it all night and half the day about 18hrs, and took it out again today and the trolling motor only lasted about 30min to 1hr, what could be the problem ?? Charger Battery Top Battery Side

I have gotten a bad battery right off the shelf. But that is a cranking battery you need a deep cycle for a trolling motor
Also if thats your charger in the first pic it wont work to charge a dead battery it is ment to maintain a fully charged battery.

Wrong kind of battery. You need a deep cycle marine battery and a 5 amp Minn Kota portable battery charger. Get a physically larger battery; They last longer. AGM batteries are maintainence free and charge quicker than conventional batteries. Pay your money and take your choice.

My opinion: the little float charger really cannot charge- it can maintain a charge, but not recharge a low battery. I know from experience. When you ran your trolling motor 3.5 hrs, the battery was probably discharged down to maybe 50%. The float charger could only maintain that 50%, so when you went out the next day, you were operating on only 50% of capacity. It lasted only 30 min. Get a smart charger, 15amp top charge rate would be best. Another thing, is that a deep cycle battery? The label says "Super Start". You need a deep cycle battery.

If it were in good shape that cranking battery would last more than an hour or 2. The problem is it is not going to handle many charge / discharge cycles.
