I am about to start learning how to jig fish the lake I fish has alot of rocks and docks. The question is what would be the best head for a jig to fish around rocks and also docks? Thanks in advance.

Arond docks probably an arkie or flipping style head around rocks a football head would be best.

I prefer a standard round head jig because it has less drag and, in my experience, doesn't hang up in rocks as much as a football head jig. I think a good bait to start with would be a small jig. Try a 3/16 - 1/4 oz. Booyah finese jig with a Paca chunk craw trailer, or your favorite trailer. Green pumpkin or watermelon/red are good colors, or black/blue if the water is pretty dingy.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

Yep!, What L-Rat said. And if the rocks are too big or you want to fish in brushpiles (not just around the edges) then go with the arkie-style flipping head. A little ball head finesse jig is also deadly pitched around docks.

Can you put a watermelon red rage craw on a black and blue jig as a trailer or do you need a black or blue trailer?

I dig the football jigs where rocks and mud/silt meet. They make a nice trail of mud through the water that bass will follow. I think this is important right now when they are lazy and more opportunistic and less aggressive.
