Maybe this won't be as interesting to everyone else as it was to me, but I visited the Carrollton Plaza Supermarket, and the variety of fish just blew me away. It was a cross between an exotic Asian fish market and a bait shop. I don't say that as a joke, and please don't take that as a knock on their culture. I am Cajun and have caught and eaten quite a few of the species I saw there. (Carp, Mullet, Frogs, Squid, Octapus, Smelt, Stingray, etc.). I really thought that I might stop there for my next fishing trip down to the coast for food and bait. Carrollton Plaza Supermarket pictures

Agree....traditional style Asian fish markets are very cool. I spent close to a decade in Asia in my younger days, and walking through a back alley food markets was ALWAYS fun. A feast for your eyes, and your pallet, if so inclined.

The squid and shrimp that you'll find there is alot fresher than some bait shops...cheaper too!

new place to buy buffalo...
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

i cant help but think of the guys they caught on Twak using the gill nets and catching several hundreds of punds of fish and selling them to the local places like this. I wonder if that still goes on, it was a huge ring that was caught , hmmm, about 10 years ago or so?
this place looks like it has a nice variety of everything

I went into another market, not this one and was looked at like I was VERY out of place. Everyone was friendly though. I was laughing to myself that they must wonder why all these people that are not their "regular" customers are coming in.
