Nice fish. Were you fishing from a kayak or banking it? Was most of the action upriver from Milton's beach?
A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of working.

Hey!! Hey!! Hey!! __3535__ Just left post a little while ago... In Topic:Reimers Sunday Glad you started a new Topic on Reimer's though, Being Topic-(Reimers Sunday) could be a little (confusing) on days other than Sunday... Where those pics from today at Reimer's ??? Didn't see you or notice you where down there... Did see several kayaks down there... Was that you in the Yellow-kayak__ Not sure what make it was??? I' ll try to e-mail after I post this... ...Good Fishing And Fun To All... To: Hooked4Life With a little research... My guess is sportsman3535___aka..."Willy The Kid" Was in an yellow(Ocean Frenzy)kayak... ========================================= sportsman3535 Angler Extreme posted 02-24-2005 03:10 PM I fish out of an Ocean Frenzy. The current should not be a problem. You will be glad you had the kayak. ========================================= I did managed 20 keepers(19 males 1 female) from the bank...As I posted in the Topic:Reimers Sunday Of course, it took me a good 8 hours to catch mine... And it appears "Willy The Kid"... Also known as "Kayak Kid Will" Caught 22 Keepers, with 11 monster (Yegue Creek-size Females)... !!Lookout Fishytx!! So I'd definitely say a kayak, canoe or anything that floats and (keeps you dry)...Is definitely an advantage down there... (Especially,Being The Water Be Still VERY COLD DOWN THERE!!) Me Know For Sure!! Being Me Get A Little Bit Of Water Inside Me Chest-Waders, Trying To Go A Little Bit To Deep... FISHINGFOOL40 ...Soon to be Angler Extreme... :p

Fishing Fool, didnt I fish with you last year? Seems like to me, youre the guy that lives real close to Reimers. Man Im not going to let Sportsman3535 out fish me. I say this in sarcasm, because young Will knows all to well how to catch whites at Reimers, thats for sure. Sounds like it would be a good idea to bring a change of clothes too. Im also one of those who tries to get out there just a little bit further, so I can make that perfect cast where I think the fish lie waiting for that little snack called the white jig. Here are some questions I asked over on (Reimers on Sunday). ------------------------------------------------------------- I have a few question guys. 1. Are yall wade fishing at Meltons place, or are you all fishing from kayaks? 2. I guess what Im trying to find out, is where does the lake meet the river? 3. Where does the main flow of water stop at? 4. Can a person take a bass boat all the way up to Henrys place? ------------------------------------------------------------- FISHINGFOOL40 just answered one. Bring something that floats. I know the fish are just stacked up at the falls, or should I say the steep rapids. A person should be able to catch a limit in about two hours or even a little less. As I sit here and type, the white bass fever is starting up again. I hate that illness. The only cure I have found for this so far is to catch a limit or two. :p

Hi fishytx, People have been bringing boats up to and past the shallow section just upstream from Milton Reimers beach. It looks pretty shallow in that one stretch but I have seen boats up beyond that area. The river is slow with not much current below that area. I saw people in float tubes and rafts slowly floating along. Hopefully another bass boater will answer your quuestion. I would like to go upstream that far in the kayak this year. Will probably be down there Thurs or Friday and over the weekend also. RIver T

Went again today, but didn't catch as many. However I suspect that has alot to do with the fact that I took the girlfriend, which kept me land-locked. Also this meant alot more time eating lunch and relaxing that actual fishing. Which wasn't really a bad thing, it was a beautiful day. I saw a couple guys with stringers, mainly from usptream. I did land a couple of HUGE females on the fly rod, right there from milton's beach. I am the Kid that fishes from the Yellow Yak to clear that up. FishyTX- Talked to two different boats that had been all the way to the falls on Monday. One was a 14 ft John. However the other was a large fish/ski. I believe there is enough water to make it up there. However the farthest I have gone this year is about 100 yards up past the rope swings. Call me and fill me in on your plans to bring your boat up sometimes, I can give you more info on the river conditions. RiverT, FishyTX, FF- Seems like we all met eachother last year. I was thinking of picking one day in mid-late march and we could all fish together? Just a thought. I remember last year we had a day where most of us were out there at once. Sure was fun.

Fishy, me and Ranger Rob went almost all the way up two Sundays ago. The water is high and pretty clear. Just mind the rocks and hoards of boats as you round the last bend. We didn't go that far...we didn't want to get into the boulders and boats. R
Where do they go when they're not there???

Well I have been all the way to the falls in a bass boat a couple of times before, and I know all to well about the boulders, that's why I'm asking. The other boats do not bother me at all; it's just those darn boulders. They will not get out of your way for nothing, not to mention the damage they can do to a prop, and it's a long way back to the ramp.
If everything goes to plan, I should be up there all day Saturday and maybe a little that night. I hope to get a little night fishing in. In the past I have always caught more and bigger fish at night. Man I can't wait.

I sure hope the weather holds out this Saturday so I can get some night fishing in. A somewhat calm day, with a little overcast, with temps in the mid sixties would be great. But we all know all to well that Mother Nature is not the one who correspond with ones wishes. Thats why we buy rain gear, right---- right. Never the less, Ill be there with my son-in-law trying to get two limits in the boat rain or shine.
I can not tell yall how many times Ive been out in that river wade fishing at night catching fish like you have never seen before, while all the other fisherman where up at their camps drinking beer and having fun with family and friends because they had no idea that a person could catch twice as many, plus bigger fish during the night time hours.
At night is when the bigger whites come up into the shallower waters to spawn, or to move further upstream to spawn. Many, many years ago I figured out what color of bait to use and how to fish for whites at night. Since that day, back when you could camp out there that is, I use to only go to Reimers from 6 pm till 10 am the next day to fish and that was it. At that time, there were no limits, and I would come home with 150 to 200 whites each trip. But those days are over, and Im glad. Do you know how long it took to fillet that many fish? Me neither, but it was a long, long time, thats for sure. I kept family, friends, and coworkers supplied with fish all year long.
Oh well, hope to see some of you out there.

What time does Riemer start letting people in? One more question is since I am going to be fishing from a kayak should I head upstream or down stream?

I'm not real sure on the time, but I would guess they would be open around 5:30. It starts to get light around 6:00.
Go upstream.
You know, I say go upstream and I haven't even been there this year, but that is where I would go. Heck man, listen to those who have been there, they know more about it right now than I do.
