Which do you prefer more for weights and why? A. tungsten B. Brass C. lead
Do you add anything other then weights? Glass beads somekind of clacker thing or something like tru tungsten force bead
as far as the mainline/leader what do you use? braid mainline / mono leader flourocarbon/mono leader mono/mono
I want to start doing this more this summer and need thoughts?

Same as above! That combination gives me the best feed back to feel even the slightest of bites. The tungsten has a better weight to size ratio, smaller size for the same weight, means less hang ups. I believe I can feel the bottom much better as well, being able to distinguish rocks, brush, and grass.

Mike,
I have a tendency to lean towards the brass weight, with a glass bead on it and then a brass ring underneath the glass bead. It seems to have a lot more noise to me when you clack them together once you get it set up.
I normally fish carolina rig on 17-20 pound copolymer and if I am fishing a lake where I know I am going to get into some timber, I will use braid.

Braid main line brass weight brass clacker glass bead leader 12 to 15 lb mono usually Brekley Big Game I spend most of my time on Lewisville, Grapevine, and Ray Roberts and this set up has worked great for me. Most of the time I use a Rattlesnake or Baby Brush Hog in whatever color the fish want for the day.

As far as line goes, I like braid to 20# mono leager around grass. Everywhere else, it's 20# line to 20# leader. I think that the 20# leader helps the bait sink slower, and it has the strength.
As weights go, and I don't kow why, but I can cast a 3/4 oz lead bullet weight alot farther than I can cast a 3/4 tungsten weight with wind present. I know they weigh the same, but I think that the size of the bullet weight (much larger than the tugsten) has something to do with it.
I've experimented with this for years - I've never, ever, NOT ONCE, found that a fish is biting a brass-n-glass set-up better than they are biting a regular set-up. I know everyoen has their opinions, but here's mine. Each time we are catching fish on a c-rig, I ALWAYS do the opposite of what my partner is doing. If he's using lead, I'm using B&G. If he's catching fish, I'm catching fish.
If we are using a c-rig and NOT catching fish, I still do the opposite and get the same results.
I think that when the fish are on a c-rig, they eat it regardless of brass-n-glass. When they ain't on a c-rig, the B&G set-up didn't get any more bites than the other.
Baits - almost always a Zoom fluke. When the fish are on a c-rig bite, I take 2 c-riiged rods and 4 packs of flukes and I usually don't worry about using anything else.

BTW, I always experiment w/ the length of the leader. To me, theleader is the biggest variation in the c-rig set-up. Many times, the leader length has been the key to one guy catching fish, while the other guy wasn't.

1oz lead, one glass bead, 17big game mono on main line, leader 12-15 on leader. leader length varies on bait, depth fishing and if fishing grass.

I fish 30-50# Power Pro Braid for my main line and usually 14# Trilene XT green for my leaders (about 3 1/2' to 4'long). In texas I used the brass Pro-Jo weights in 3/4 oz most of the time with 1 oz on occasion. I always use a glass bead and sometimes use a brass clacker also. Out here in Georgia I have gone to lead egg sinkers in the same weights and glass beads. There are so many rocks in the North Georgia lakes and the sinker loss is just too great to keep investing in Brass, besides the lead bumping on those rocks creates enough noise. The water is clear enough that too much noise could be more harmful than helpful. Good Question!

as far as the mainline/leader what do you use? braid mainline / mono leader flourocarbon/mono leader mono/mono Fluorocarbon/fluorocarbon leader - I like Fluoro for the mainline especially when it is windy. With braid blowing in the wind, I fell like I miss some bites.
Weight size depends on the wind and structure being fished.
I like a 5" Berkley wacky crawler. You might try a short 2 foot leader in timber. Has worked well for me when other rigs don't.

Mike, I like 20lb big game all the way. No swivel. I use the carolina keepers. You need two, because they wear out and don't hold. Plus it is so much easier to adjust your leader length. I use either 3/4oz or 1/2oz lead weight (lightest I can get away with). I like the slow fall on the 20lb mono as well. I like my bait to float as much as it can. Plus you can't beat a chartruese/pepper stud fry Those fish on Roberts don't like them though!

ive always used these because of farther casting distance.
