Does anyone know of any 7' panel nets for under $60? I normally use a 7' old salt. They have went up in price this year. Where can I get one the cheapest? I am thinking of going to a 1/2" mesh for quicker sinking and eliminate gill netting so many small shad. Thoughts?

Don't think you will find a pie panel net for under a hundred bucks. Fitecs Ultra Spreader is a real easy to throw net, but still over a hundred. I have used a 1/2 inch mesh for a while now , but I think Texas regs limit you to a 3/8" mesh square, unless they have changed in last six years. Oklahoma doesn't care about mesh or radius size limits like Texas does.

Get online and check out Memphis net and twine, and Fitec international, Old Salts can be had direct also I think. I have used Fitec's for about 10 years now, their quality/price for the buck beats most. I have also tried Calusa,Wards,Cajun and a whole lot of others including Betts, Old Salt. I will take Fitec over them all. I use a 10' Ultra Spreader 1/2 mesh or an 8' same size. All panel nets will fully open and are much easier to open on the cast.

I have used the 7' Fitec net (3/8") for several years and really like it. The 7' is the largest legal net used in Texas but I have an 8' that I throw on the Oklahoma side of Texoma. I have been guiding on Texoma for several years and have thrown several brands but I like the Fitec the best. The Fitec website is www.castnets.com.

I have been using the 10' Fitec "Pro Series" and like it better than any others I have used yet. It has a little less weight than the "Pro-Selecte" yet it still opens very well and is very soft for mono. I got it for 59.99 at www.catchnbait.com

FYI, I just checked into mesh sizes and there is no regulation in Texas for it.

I throw clear mono as it matches the water I fish in best. I don't like nylon. It doesn't open as well.
