There were big fish in the Lake. That's soon to be a thing of the past. Get ready for less than 15#'s to win most tournaments.
Four Share a Lunkers caught due to the grass. Three of them were netted by the same net. A quote from then net owner "Conroe sucks! thanks TPWD for killing the grass".

its ok though, the grass carp they stocked were the ones with short life spans, and they should be dying off soon.....what a crock of $hit. there is no such thing. those carp will live a long time, and its time the state starts letting people shoot them.

So is Lewis all messed up now? I loved coming down there in February and sight fishing before the spawn kicked off up here. i heard there is a marina going in. That sucks, maybe the grass will come back up north. i think that is the only protected area from construction.

Not just Bass fry, but bluegill, minnows, every part of the food chain needs that vegatation. I used to love to park my kids on the back of my boat with some worms while I worked the grass from the front. Half the time they were having so much fun catching, I would lay down my rods and pick up an ultralight to join in. I'm afraid the entire ecosystem will be gone, so some rude kids in their fancy boats can wakeboard without fear of having to drive around some grass. No wonder I don't work for TPWD anymore, they were idiots when I left and now they're just morons.

Yet property owners still weren't satisfied so politics again raised its ugly head and Inland Fisheries KowTowed to a few unenlightened property owners.

If you have big $/political clout TPWD will side with you. LCHA = $$ and I'm sure political connections. I agree we need an open season on the carp, but do you really thing after LCHA spent all that money on their yard crew they will let us take them away?

I don't have much $ or any political connections, so maybe its time to start a massive letter writing campaign to our state reps about the need for a balanced ecosystem in our public waters.

Now they are talkin about building another reservoir and pumping the water to Conroe so it will keep a constant level. property owners complained about takin the lake down for drinkin water. Said it would ruin their property values. I thought the lake was built for water and why did they allow all the property owners to dictate how Conroe was to be run.
Enough from me on this BS !!!! It will help the white bass go crazy in a clean lake like it did before and the cats will do better for a while but with out all the habitat the Bass fishin will go down hill.

I hooked one of those big carp on a rattle trap the other day. I guess they only eat vegetation too huh

Those carp are so hungry they will bite a crank bait at times. The ultimate thing would be for all them to starve to death in the same week in July. That way all the home owners that wanted them so bad could enjoy them. I could stay away from the lake for a couple of weeks. Lol.

Killing the grass has taken tournament winning weigths down towards half of what it took last year. It survived about one year after the grass before it tanked.

Not sure if anyone saw it, but in today's Houston Comical there is an article about the deer being a problem in the Walden area. Man lets fire up the Whambulance and make a run through there. Gotta love it.
