Ernest, You need to get you one of them little digital scales! That and a couple batteries ain't THAT much money! I know you and Guy are thrifty, but maybe you could go halfsies?

"Thrifty"....Is that the word you use to describe Ernest and Guy??  Ernest, I can't see the girth, but assuming that's a 3/4Oz. Sassy in his mouth....I'll put that at between 3# and 3.5#.

ACTUALL I HAVE TWO DIGITAL SCALES. DON'T ASK WHY I DIDN'T HAVE ONE WITH ME.
MIKE THAT IS A 1.5oz JIG HEAD WITH A 4" BODY ON IT. IT WAS IN WITH A BUNCH OF HYBRIDS..
REALLY FAT. I THOUGHT IT WAS A HYBRID AT FIRST IT WAS SO MEAN.

I know one that went a hair over 17 that was 2.9lbs and is now resting in my freezer with a few smaller fish, 16 inches ready to be laid on the George Forman Grill. Caught it on the same sassy shad too...

Ernest, don't write that fish off as a sandie until you check the tooth patch. I caught one several year ago that was about seven pounds and it looked enough like a giant sandie that it not only fooled me, but it fools a TPW biologist until he ran some additional tests. Man it looked like a sandie in every feature. Except the tounge patch.

I had the same thing happen a few years ago, I knew I had the record for the state! But TPW biologist told me it was a hybrid that had more sandbass in it then it should have.....rats!

I caught one 18" at Lake Leon a couple of weeks ago on a red trap that was almost as big around as it was long! full of eggs!

Varner had one in my boat last week that was a good 17 inches, should of weighed it, but am guessing 2.75 or so.

Question is ,if you hadn't have landed it, how much would it have weighed? LOL, Most guides I know would have said 6 or 7 pounds!

MikeC is pretty close to the presumed weight of that Whitebass..I also would get a positive I.D
from Tx.Pks,&wildlife.
I caught a 18"1/4 whitebass at the lock & dam
area in centerville.tx a few years back and it
weighed 4.25lbs/uncertified scale at P.T.s bait
camp.By the time I got it to the branch lab.in
Kemah.tx for a positive I.D & weight it ended
weighing just under 4lbs..
