I have a 2005 Ram with the 5.7 liter and it randomly dies when coming to a stop. I've cleaned the throttle body and that seemed to cure it for about two weeks. I've heard of replacing the throttle position sensor but I haven't talked to anyone who has actually done this???? Any ideas????

ding ding ding ding ding... replace the throttle position sensor.

An 02 & 04 that have both done the same... cheap and easy to do.

Where did you buy them and how much did they cost?? I've read the entire throttle body needs to be replaced. Any truth to that???

Actually it was a process of elimination for me...

I have a Chilton repair manual which kind of guided me on the different possibilities. I haven't heard of of the entire throttle body needing to be replaced before.

I bought the part at auto zone, wasn't pricey.

I've checked the local Autozone and they don't carry that part because they don't have a "demand" for it yet. Guess I'll try a different store or maybe the Dodge dealer. I'm guessing it is just bolts onto the throttle body??? It's been a few weeks since I've looked at the throttle body assembly.

make sure your battery is in good shape,if it drops the voltage down to around 9 volts while it is cranking it will cause the truck to do a idle relearn, and if not properly done it will stall.this is a very common problem with the dodge trucks and has been for some time.if it turns out to be a weak battery, the idle learn will need to be done, you can accomplish this my making sure all accessories are turned of,and start and idle truck for 15 minutes then put truck in drive with foot on brake for another minute and then turn the a/c on max a/c for another minute while the truck is in gear, once done it should have relearned minimum idle.
