They were hot last weekend, but I am afraid with all of this rain that the gates will be opened and could have a negative effect for this weekend.

I agree with you! They would definitely have a negative effect!

So why does that have such a big impact? Due to the currents created all over the lake, hard to catch crappie in the current.

The gates were already wide open, they have been for a while. The lake is still around 4 ft. high, down from almost 15 ft. high.

TODD is correct spillway has been running hot for a while now. Fish can be slow at times.. But there have been some good catches on 30-35' flats and on the channel breaks.
Rosey Red minnows, Blue/Chart and Green/Chart jigs have been the ticket..
Gonna try to get out there today to play with new IPilot..

hey quicksilver- coming to the tawakoni tourney this year
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Went to LOP Tues. and it was hot early and the fish were really nice size compared to past years. We fished about a mile from the dam and I looked all over for some humps or drop-offs but that is the most flat bottom I have ever seen. Fish were about 2-3 cranks off bottom in 32' to 44'. GOOD LUCK
set that hook!

Is LOP hard to figure out. I have that one on my list this year. LOP and Palestine are 2 I would like to fish this year.

I don't know if LOP is hard to figure out as I have not managed to get it done yet. If you go to Caddo (and I would recommend it), be sure and get a map with the boat roads on it. They are all marked and you will get lost without it.
set that hook!
