I use Secret 7 for channels and cut shad and buffalo for Blues.. You could probably grind that stuff up and make some chum wouldn't hurt.

sounds like it would work great in any store bought stink bait and any other bait like big marvs secret 7 danny kings etc etc. show pics of how it works. Probably catch some nice blues and nice sized channels off of it

I've got a buddy that swears by the deer liver. Cut deer liver outperformed a very popular punch bait for us on Choke a while back. There's a lot of blood in the liver that leaches out... Never used lung before.

I wouldn't risk ruining a proven bait such as Secret 7, Big Marv's or Danny King's. Just use it as cut bait. It should work just fine on it's own. Fish it side by side with other baits and see what works best.

Good advice Bobby.......

I have been adding cattails to the secret7 and using the spring trebbles with it, I sure helps it stay on. Good bait and works on the blues and channels alike.

You listen right now if you want some TERRIFIC catfish bait!!

Rancid deer meat. Thaaaaaat's right....rancid deer meat!

Billy Jack Hankins (Eddy's brother), stays in trailer #31 at Shady Palms, shot and dressed out a deer a few years back.

Billy Jack gave me the backstrap of that deer. If you knew Billy Jack you might question his field dressing techniques. Anyway, it stayed in the fridge until Wifey threatened a divorce due to the smell it imparted to the ENTIRE fridge!

I took a bunchuhh kids out to Baker Park Lake in Sherman and we put out 30 cane pole set hooks baited with chunks of that evil backstrap. This was during the morning on a clear, sunny day in April.

After setting all the poles we washed up and had a big hot dog feast with Twinkies for dessert. One of the kids came running from the lake yelling that a pole was "in the water".

We all ran down to the bank to see one of the cane poles up-ending and moving along like a periscope. We started around the lake to "look" the set-hooks and had cats, bass, huge bream on several poles. Some poles were missing that we later found that had been pulled into snaggy areas around the shore.

The kids were excited and we rebaited and went back to find the pole that was being pulled around. Turned out it was a nice channel about 3 pounds that thought he was Arnold Swartzenegger.

I have since told people about rancid deer meat and they just shake their head and mumble something like...."Well I would NEVER waste good deer meat as bait!"

I am like.....HELLO! Were you LISTENING! It was putrid, thawed many times.....RANCID deer meat!

You can't get through to some people.

The majority of the fish the kids caught that day were cats. We ran out of backstrap after the second baiting. I called wifey and she brought shrimp, chicken livers and earthworms. We caught a few more fish but NOTHING like we did with the rancid backstrap.
