Got on the water at 4. Didn't catch anything for the first 45 minutes. I went just north of the 190 roadbed to calm water and saw balls of shad all over the surface and decided I would just wait. I didn't have to wait long. For the next 45 minutes to an hour we caught em. Left at 6 with sore fingers and a full ice chest. Took longer to clean them than to catch them!
God Bless,
John

When they are schooling, they'll hit anything you can throw at em. I was using a white slab spoon, just reeling it in and not letting it drop. My partner was using a chrome and blue rattle trap. When they're schooling I recommend using a swimbait or something that only has one hook. It's much easier to get out one hook than it is a treble hook.
Best of luck.
