I was going to hit Alan Henry Friday. Where is the best place to put a water wagon in down there? Need a place where I can park pretty close and the bank is not too steep. Also, not very deep at edge of water, so as to be able to get back out. Would the boat ramp be the most accessible spot? Haven't really explored AH much.
Thanks,
Kevin

Kev, Put the boat in at the ramp. There is a spot just south of the public access that has shallow water next to the bank. You have to get there early to claim it.

You can pull it off just fine but I wish I could be there to see your face when you see how steep the banks (we call them walls because they dont really slope much) of AH are. Seen some wagons in there before though... and a great place for crappie and bass. I was there this past week... and the area south of the ramp that I believe Kikr is talking about near a few primative campsites has quite a big of vegetation right now. I would suggest the ramp too. There are 5 divided lanes and plenty of room. You can find a few shallow spots around there... you should be fine. Wish there was a better spot but I dont know of any that arnt private. Maybe some more experienced AH people can give you better details. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I have one of the styrofoam water wagons that I can carry in the back of my pickup. It is heavy at all so I don't have to back my pickup to the bank to unload if that is what ya'll were thinking (I did not explain very clearly).
Thanks Kevin

Kev, LOL, sorry I wasnt thinking tube. I was thinking more like plastic pond boat with trolling motor on it that you unload out of the back of a truck. I personally tubed out there before, but I dont have waders so i only did fishing when the water was really warm. Now that I'm thinking tube though... if as soon as you get to the parking lot you take a right onto the dirt roads that are used for camping, DO NOT take the road that is furthest to your right but take the second one to the right (it is the most defined road if that helps any.) Follow that road all the way down to the water. You will see the road path continue into the water and see a campsite marker #31 about 10 ft out in the water. Park right there and walk straight out in the water. About 20 yards straight ahead of you there is some brush sticking out of the water that use to be a small island. I have caught decent amounts of fish right in the front of those reeds both to the left and right of the island. I personally toss a light T-rig lizard right into the front of those reeds. The right side of the island is more of a flat (possible spawning bass right now but it might be hard to bed fish from a tube) left of the island is a lil bit more sloping, but plenty of vegetation to fish on both sides. Have fun and let us know how it goes.
