Fished with Hal Dodd and Eric. These are some great guys. We started a little slow, thought it was gonna be another Joe Pool trip laugh laugh but it ended up being a great day. We caught well over 70 fish and kept 50 including 18 1/2 inch and a 22inch hybrid. Ive never been to CC before and it was a cold day but was well worth the trip. I learned a lot from these guys. I plan on booking many of more trips with Hal.

The drive to Joe Pool sure beats the one to Cedar Creek. I told Phil early when we were catching small whites and yellows that I was confident we would find the magnums. The North wind made most of the morning miserable.

After a great lunch at the Tiki hut we scouted around and went north. We wound up finding some birds working mid lake and instantly started catching sows. This wasnt Phil's biggest fish but the first he had ever caught on a slab.

This is Phil assisting Eric on a nice Hybrid that Phil intends to grill.

Her is goofy old me rejoicing in the moment. The only thing better than a magnum is a double magnum.

All in all a good day.

Great catch...loads of fun. Now, if we can just get a reasonable place to clean fish at Cedar Creek... wink

Hey Hal, those are some nice size magnum. Me and Marc went to CC last week and didn't catch one sandies or hybird. We were watching the bird but they never hit the water. Well they were hitting but by the time we sneak up on them they were gone and so were the fish. At least ya had better luck than we did.

If the birds are hovering look for loons under them. If there are loons dont assume there are fish. The loons dive down and stir up the shad. Sometimes the birds hover just waiting for the loons to dive.

I cant believe the difference in the weather today versus yesterday, makes me ill.

We met a young guy that lives down there at lunch, his name was Ben and he frequents TFF. He was chasing sandies too.
