well, *what* I caught wasn't as weird as *when* I caught it...

several years ago I was fishin' on Ray Bob with my dad in the back of Richardson cove. I'm in the back and Dad's on the trolling motor snaking around timber when a large spindly cedar bush reaches in the boat and grabs Dad's favorite garcia/falcon rig (the only one passed to him from *his* father); the tree drags it right out the back half of the boat before anyone can move. Now, since I'm in the back it falls on me to make the save. I had been pitching a 3/4oz tandem spinner, so I reel it up to just a couple of inches from the eye and stab it into the water in hopes of hooking the family heirloom. I feel the line load up. I've got it but it feels like the rig is slipping down my hook. Anxious not to lose this one I pull it up out of the water, but instead of my father's baitcaster, I've caught a little white crappie!! It wasn't even a keeper.

Dad still hasn't forgiven me: says he can't believe I couldn't stop fishing for 2 seconds to save my granddad's rod.
I've caught hell ever since.

I hooked a water turkey on Bob Sandlin using a jigging spoon for sand bass. I fought him for a good 45 minutes until I finally decided to break my line because i was getting no where and he was not tired at all. It was cool he would dive down rip drag then when he would come back up for a breath id gain on him and it that was pattern the whole time.

Was fishing a buddy tournament (with the guy that had me net the Clam). Not much going on, out on a long point. A skier kept getting closer and closer to us. My buddy kept moving us further out on the point, the skier kept getting closer. Next pass he cast over the skiers tow line with his jig. About dragged him in the boat, after a few tugs his drag finally gave out. The skier didn't come back for another pass.

Think I would have let the bat have the Jitterbug and move on.

I had a bass get a cork once. He thrashed about a couple of times to get it out of his mouth.

Hooked a 16ga in the Nocona Hills Creek about 3 years ago, caught it in the trigger guard on a spinner bait. Took and got it cleaned, shot it once and sold it.
