all i can say is i went to fairfield in december like i have for the last 30 years and i came away very upset. i have ALWAYS caught limits of good channel cat and now...... nothing but red fish! i think they are eating the catfish! i caught 6 redfish between 5 and 10 lbs on dead shrimp off the pier in the state park and only 1 channel cat that was not big enough to keep and missing an eyeball and half his tail! very sad, i have been a life-long fan of lake fairfield but i will probably never go back! (sorry for the long rant!!!!!!!!!)

Using shrimp I found all of 2009 I could catch big for me (9#-14# size) Cats. They seemed to step up after the Reds decided to evacuate a pattern time or area. You would not hook up with mixture, it will be one or the other with those Cats always came after the red bite quit. However we never caught cats below 5-6# in size.

The Reds are clearly the dominate specie at FF. The Reds might be so fast and equally fast on their scent pickup that they can out feed the Cats.
