 LOWRANCE Software upgrade trouble with MAC

Anyone ever had trouble using a Mac. I have a Macbook pro, and I cant get Java to initialize using the terminal. It says it cant find JRE on my system. Im not that smart with computers, but know a little. I played with my friends for him, and got it to work finally for his HDS update, but my operating system is newer OSX 10.6.2. I know this is a long shot, but if anyone knows how I can update my X15 and X27 another way help please. X27 looses contact in shallow vegetated water bad. I think this update will help.

yes, it's easier with a regular pc.
