Yes sir I do. I have tried to cut back, but I have a fear that they will be on some lure or color that I have left in the garage.

This is something Ive always thought. Ive seen guys with every color in the rainbow in thier jig box yet they tye on the same ole blk and blue. Enough soft plastics to start a tackle store. I will admit I probably have more than I need but not near what Ive seen in others boats.

Back when getting started, I used to go out and buy 6-8 colors of the same plastic bait just in case I needed them. I never did need or ever throw all those colors. Still have most of them in large boxes
My boat is a LOT lighter these days. 3-4 colors of baits with variations of those colors by different brands. If I try a new bait these days it is usually a one pack/color purchase to try it out. The bait has to fit in with a specific presentation I use on a regular basis. Everything plastic I could possibly throw in a day of tournament fishing could fit into a one gallon zip. Same deal with the cranks and spinner baits. I always reach for the same 2-3 variations. I have to laugh and some of the spinnerbaits baits colors and the blade combos I purchased on the 80s and 90s. I was a gadget fisherman if there ever was one. I never bought anything out of a magazine or off TV but every time I look at some of the accumulated tackle I wonder, what was I thinking?????

last winter, i broke down and through all my stuff out of the boxes and into a big pile in the middle of the floor. I then proceeded to restock each box, with the 3/4 colors I always used and the rest went into zip lock bags into storage bins that I keep here at the house. Ive got several Plano 3700 Box of cranks, that have never had line tied to them. I'll never use most of them, because when it comes down to it ive got 3 or 4 cranks that I'll go to if I need em. I simplified things, and its made things a lot easier and made the load alot lighter aswell.

Yep. I only use a few key colors in plastics and hard baits. Medium heavy and heavy rods, braid and mono. use the KISS method and catch fish!

I collect all kinds of baits and store them in my garage because my boat will not hold any more.I always use the same two or three baits every time I fish.{Keeps the hooks sharp on the rest]My wife fights me for shelf space in the garage and complains about all the lures on the kitchen table..I have noticed over the years that my gas mileage has gone down in my boat. My boat doesn't get out of the hole like it used to because of the weight of the tackle in the front compartments.
But I heard "he who dies with the most lures wins".You guys better go to BPS more often.I am leaving you in my dust!!

I pretty much catch all my fish off of the same few lures but that doesn't stop me from buying a bunch of [censored] I rarely even chunk.
I have a Largemouth at home....sometimes she lets me go fishing.

i'm not sure i agree with over-complicating rod and reel selection for different presentations, that can make a significant difference for some techniques. but as far as color selection, yes i think most people are guilty of that. i have tons of colors of soft plastics, but i really only use a few of them. i've gotten to the point where i have my boxes of flukes, brush hogs, beavers, and worms in the colors i actually throw (watermelon, watermelon/red, green pumpkin, black/blue) and then a huge bag full of the rest of the stuff i've accumulated that never get used.
now i only stock up on the stuff i actually use, and will buy the other stuff only when i need it. ill pick up the chartreuse stuff before a trip to monti, bastrop, or travis, or the plum before a trip to falcon or choke

I kept all my baits on 24 ft of peg board , I use zip up plastic carriers. I fill theses marked with what I want to take that day Tubes worms jigs trailers etc. Same with swim baits top waters everthing. And when I pull my boat in it all goes back on the wall. I had a boat full of stuff for yrs and that didnt work well for me.
