My parents, wife and I did some trolling this evening at Palestine by the 155 bridge. My wife and I did a double...she caught her biggest hybrid and I caught mine. She caught a 3.1 lb, 21" and I caught a 6 lb, 25" hybrid.

Old reliable, THE BIG 155. They were there Thurs. as well. I saw 2 boats trolling and they wouldn't get 1 pillon before they stopped to reel a sandie in. You could definitly tell they were on the feed. I got mine on a pearl 4-1/2 swim bait, the larger sandies liked it also. What I was glad too see was real small sandbass. So at least we got a spawn. They tried to eat a 1 ounce spoon that was as big as they were. I guess I can get in line now as long as they are not on pillon 45 and the center pole.

I saw yall the other day, I noticed from the bright yellow shirt you are wearing. I was in a white/green Ranger bass boat. I mostly fish jigs for crappie under the bridge. That day I was trolling like you. If I remember correctly, you and I were the only boats out there....that was a nice change. But I came home skunked as I only had swim baits and rat l traps. Hope to get a hell/pet set up soon.
Hope to see you out there again.

Hope to see you out there again. I remember you guys. Yes, it was nice to not have to duck the other boats. Last few times we have trolled on 155 it's been fairly clear of boats. Mostly in the late evening. We hit the nice ones about mid-bridge. Hope to see you on the lake again.

Durt- Did you do any fishing this weekend? I'm think about going to Lake Palestine this weekend. I have never been on this lake before. I guess I'll try trolling down the 155 bridge.

I fished Palestine this weekend for the first time, fished Sat, noon to dark, Sunday, both am shift and pm shift, as well as this am till about 1:30pm. Did the hell pet trick, it worked pretty well. The go to bait for us was a Electric blue, yellow , chartruse D-22 crankbait. This bait was as hot as the weather. Other colors, sizes, Fat Free Shad's caught fish, but all the big fish were on the D22. Make sure to bring a few extra everything as this area eats tackle. I probably dumped $80 in tackel. The hot spots for us were pilings 15, 25, 30, 45. There are a few snags near 25 (RD) but it held the fish. All fish were caught on the deep side of the old road bed in about 16-19 ft of water. I would drag the baits on top of the road, then pull them down the slope...Bam. Fish On. Surface water temps at the bridge today were 92.5 Degrees. Saw alot of dead fish floating, low water no rain probably stressing the fish out. Will try to post picture of 28 inch hog.

Doug Did a little Friday night. Caught a few on the 155 bridge then moved on to a catfish hotspot.

I took the "kids" (college age) out last week. We put in at the dam ramp and fished along the long hump +/- 700 yds north of the dam along the west side. There were quite a few of small birds diving on the small sandys. Lots of little fish and one 3 lb hybrid. 7pm til dark.
Anyone found a morning pattern ?
Thanks. The Ledbetter Legend

"There were quite a few of small birds diving on the small sandys."
Ledbetter I saw some of those in 3 different areas of the lake and everytime they were on fish. (it was not 155 bridge)
What kind of birds are those?? They are the size of terns but black.

I fished Palestine all the time back when I lived in Tyler, but I never caught big ones like that. What a day when you both catch your personal best!
Good post and pics.

How's the night fishing? Wife and daughter want to put out the lights Fri. and Sat. We've always done good, just hate hooking them too deep on live shiners and can't get a hookup on circle hooks. Any info will be appreciated. I'll be in a silver and blue alumiweld w/ 85hp Suzuki (two blonds with me)
