what keeps the bass from being stunted in lakes where all bass have to be released? i would think the bass population would eventually become overpopulated.

Nature.
Most lakes that have correct ecosystems will take care of themselves.
Normally its just small lakes or tanks that have a problem

And some people dont always through back. But yeah im pretty sure big bass will eat smaller bass. Ive heard about a guy who caught a sixlber because he hooked into a smaller one and then the big one took it.

what keeps the bass from being stunted in lakes where all bass have to be released? i would think the bass population would eventually become overpopulated. It's called TWPD. Here in Kansas they set regulations on lakes and act as though they are chiseled in stone never to be changed. If the fisheries department sees that there is not the proper balance of year class and change the regulations to make the proper balance then that is good. If your catching all different size fish in your lake then you have nothing to worry about. For example: I know Fork is not 100% C/R but in the last few years I have caught all year class fish, that tells me the fishery is doing very well. If your catching nothing but dinks or nothing but hawgs your fishery is in trouble.
