Sunday should be pretty good for the cats. I am going just as long as it is not raining or flooding to bad!

Most people fish the san gabriel close to granger. Take 29 east out of georgetown to Hwy 95. Take a left (north) and then take a quick right on CR 347. Go down about 1 1/2 miles to where the road makes a 90 degre left turn. But don't go left. Take the dirt road right. This will lead you to a primative launch site. When you take a right on 347 about half a mile down is "the steps." This is a great place to hike in and fish. What ever you do don't take you kayak donwn there.

There is a low water crossing at the brdge off 29 you can launch from. You can take that all the way to jonah. Really good fishing.

I think we are at least 3-4 weeks out. You might be able to catch 2-3 here or there and a ton of small ones but I think it is going to be a while before the main run starts.

I was told they were catching whites at the steps. Does anyone know anything about that? We paddled up from the prim. boat launch sat. and caught a lot of wind, but no fish. friday night was great for crappie, aside from losing both my microlites and almost being taken out by an owl

lazygabriel,
Were you one of the guys camping at the primitive campsite? I was the one with the yellow kayaks. So how many keeper crappie did you all get?

No, we were in our yaks. When we decided to start keeping we had four, but I would say about 10 keepers were thrown back.the majority were right around 12 with one decent slab.

Why not take a yak to that spot?

One reason might be: steps, as in stairs, as in I am to tired to fish after I have lugged all my stuff down there. Two, when the whites are there you need to grease your shoulder for all the people down there. If you follow the road a little more you will get to the primitive launch which is fairly easy to launch from. if you are gonna bank fish I would park at the circleville bridge and follow the river. Their are trails along the way that lead to pretty good holes with out all the traffic
