I know there is more than one SAL in Ray Bob, just have to put more time in to catch her, because if I was lucky I would have already caught one hmmm
Going on fourteen years now bang

Are chances are better this year than in a long long time. Just the number of boats that will be on Ray Bob this spring, as compared to before the removal of the slot, should make the difference. I hope it does.

If they didn't have a huge population of Sandbass I think it would help the lake.

I just think Roberts is a bit too far north and doesn't warm up early enough to make the spawn killer.

Good Lake I just don't see Roberts kicking out a bunch of SAL.

It also needs the grass to come back all over the lake like it used to be.

I'm hoping with the water levels being mostly stable the it makes a good comeback. I have not seen any hydrilla in the last three years, only milfoil.

We had a pretty good stand of hydrilla in one area the year before last. But as usual the water came down and it couldn't keep up. Then the hogs ate it. Hopefully with all the tournaments this year somebody will get some hydrilla started. I know some of the hydrilla we had got moved around and never took hold. But then again, the water did come down and that could have had something to do with it.

I highly doubt we will ever see the large grass beds by wolf island again. It would take a lot of things working perfectly to happen again. I just don't see it.

Another year of decent water levels and there will be milfoil all over the lake close to like there was before the flood. There is quite a bit of it in places now.

I've tried to compile a list of all the scheduled tournaments out here this year. I'm sure I have missed some but I figured it might help some of y'all out. I really just did it to get an idea of how many tournaments there would be this spring and to see were not to launch on certain days.

I'm sure there are plenty of SAL bass in Ray Roberts. I personally caught one that I would estimate was a SAL many years ago but released it. Of course, this was before there was a marina on the lake, lol so it's been a while. It measured 26 1/2 long and 23 1/2 in girth. Caught first week in April and had eggs oozing out when I got it in the boat, that's why it was released immediately rather than sticking it in a livewell and driving all around town looking for certified scales. If I told you about the rest of the fish caught that day between my brother and I, you would probably call me a liar so I will just keep it to myself. Funny thing was, that was on a Friday and I went to Lake Fork on Saturday and duplicated the pattern with similar results (numbers of fish between 3-6 lbs, and not bed fishing). Oh well. Just need to get out to Ray Bob some more and see if I can get another and get it certified! Good luck to everyone.
