A few weeks ago, I caught a 20lb 33in blue catfish by accident. I was wondering what rigs/lures/bait/etc. to use to catch another one on purpose.

carolina rig with a float about 6 inches from the hook to keep the bait off bottom a bit. Shad is the best bait if you can get it.

It's called a Santee-Cooper rig. I like a 4/0 to 8/0 circle hook. thumb Fresh cut shad is the best bait.

+2 Tiny's website has information that could take you a lifetime to learn on your own and he's good enough to share it with everyone. clap Beware though shocked. Once you get a bigun on your line you may give up bass fishing. grin

Book a trip with Cliff Hill. He will teach you more in one day than you will learn on your own in a year. Tell him you want to learn big blue fishing, drifting, channel cat fishing, whatever and you not only will learn the technique but will take home a bunch of filets.
