I was at a batteries plus store today and noticed these, the AGM ones (yellow top) looked impressive and were priced less than the optimas. The guys in the store said they were better than the optimas now and were priced less. He went on to say that optimas quality had gone way down since they started being produced in mexico, and claimed they get about 50% of the optimas returned within a year because they are losing charge. (Gotta be some truth here as I am on my second optima (blue top) cranking battery, my first one died before I even had it a year.) Anyboby used Xtreme?

Haven't seen the Xtreme but really satisfied with Optimas - pretty spendy but so far I've had nothing but great luck in drag cars, rock crawlers and boats.
Be interested what the story is on the Extremes......

If the Xtreme battery is a everstart extreme battery ? I would not have anything else. I have had great luck out of them and use them way more than most people.Between guiding and tournament fishing every weekend they hold up better than anything I have ever tried.

I don't know a thing about the extreme battery, but I can say without a doubt the optima batteries are the best battery I have ever owned period!! In my last boat I had four (4) for over three years until I sold my boat and have had the new set a little over Two (2) in my new boat and not once have they ever let me down and I fish 2-3 days a week all day long. I will say this the charger I think also has alot to do with batteries taking a good charge. Minn Kota 4 bank best charger I have ever owned. I went through 5-6 Pro Chargers, I think alot of the Pro Chargers in new boats are RECONS.

Ive used a lot of differant batteries over the years and I find Sears die hard to work well for me. I was surprised on day I went to get a new battery for my truck that they made marine batteries. I always like the quality of thier car batteries so I got some for the boat and been using them ever since and had no problems.

You might want to check out your charger, it may not comply with amp or voltage output required to fully recharge an Optima, if it does not the battery will die a slow death. After each charge it capasity will be less.

It had nothing to do with the charger voltage, the optima I own is a cranking battery not a deep cycle.

The optimas are not the same battery they were before manufacturing went to Mexico. Not ony that but the price has went up.
The thing to look for on TM batteries is the reserve, There are many batteries out there that beat optima hands down in this Department.
I use pro Guide Tourneys in My legend 225 min @ 20a. But there are lot's of batteries better than the optima for the price 75min@20a.
Even the wally world batteries have more reserve than the optima. I have purchased several sets of optimmas over the last few years and I am done with them.

Well just and update, my second optima blue top died, absolutely no charge and charger is giving the dreaded F01 code (bad cell). I guess I'll keep returning them for new ones until one makes it past the free warrenty period, this one made it 1 year 8 months. I imagine they must be losing money over this or I'm just unlucky, but they definitely have an issue.

I have a Optima which I have just replaced because it wouldn't hold a charge. So where is Batteries Plus?
