First I would like to thank Carey "Tarponfly" for giving me a FREE tip of a great bank fishing location. "Somewhere within 1000 miles of Plano" Now I want to tell you about catching these crappie, they were caught on a 1/16 white head roadrunner with a pumpkin skirt the biggest one was 13 inches. Along with the crappie I caught several nice sandbass and hooked into some huge carp and what I think was a big channel cat, I only saw a glimpse of it from the side underwater. All of the larger fish either broke my line or pulled free I had on 6lb test line with an ultralite spinning rod. While I was battling this cat, that I think was about 3 feet long, I got a phone call from my Dad. My Uncle Pete who was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumer a few weeks ago died unexpectedly today at 1:30pm. This is Pete with one of the many many fish he had caught over the years, this salmon was caught in Alaska last summer. The fish I caught today were all caught after 1:30p.m. I believe it was Pete guiding my line today. Thanks Pete I had a great time.

Sounds like Uncle Pete was a cool guy and a really great uncle. Sorry for your loss. Pete is catching bigger fish now. Thanks for the report.

I am not sure if I can express what a legendary adventurer, angler, and fly fisherman Pete was he grew up in Missouri, where I am from, catching trout in the spring fed streams. He lived and worked in Yellowstone National Park where he caught cutthroat trout along with the bears and the bison. He has been to Alaska where he caught native wild rainbow trout and salmon also with wild bears in the area. He also lived in Maryland for a while where he worked for the FDA and fished on the Potomac River where he caught monster striped bass. He raised a great family two girls and a boy, and had two grandchildren. The trips I went on with my family to visit Pete and his family in Yellowstone were the highlights of my childhood. He will be missed. Here is a pic from a fishing trip in Colorado 33 years ago I am on the far left, thats my brother and dad next to me Pete and his two daughters on the right, notice the two limits of trout
