1/13/10:Lake Dunlap
water temp:62-65
Went out to dunlap to show some friends around who never been before. Fished from 2:00ish till dark and things started off slow but picked up quickly! Located a school of 3-4 lbs fish on a shallow ledge that dropped from 3ft-18ft.. Caught 8 fish in that 3-4 lbs range all on jigs and watermelon lizzrds and baby bush hogs... caught 3 more little ones working a rock bank...All these fish are "fat" and look like they are ready to spawn, guess the warmer water coming out of the comal river is keepin the temps up...

1/12/10:Lake Bastrop
water temp:64-68
Got on the lake before sunrise and ran to the discharge area and as soon as the sun came up the fun began... Schooling fish in 1-3 lbs range they would bust shad for about 1 min and go back down and 5 mins later they would come up again, this would happen for the next hr.. We left area catching numerous fish my buddy wanted to show me the lake so we ran around looking then went up the river and flipped timber catching more fish around 3-4lbs...Fish came on small silver and gold spoons and jigs, off the water by 10:00.

1/12/10:Canyon lake
water temp: 52-54

Second part of the trip we stopped by canyon after leaving bastrop and let me say canyon is not for me. I didnt catch anything, but my good ole buddy chuck caught 4 fish up to 4 lbs all on a brown jig! We fished ledges, timber, dam area, mouth of river and randolph marina. Between the 4 of us out there (friends in other boat) 4 fish where caught... I wont be at canyon anytime soon!!!

Will post up pics later...

Seems like you've been getting into some good fish consistently. WTG!

Here's something that might help for Bastrop. I added some location names.

I fished Dunlap for this first time ever Saturday. Only had one bite on a brown jig off of a large brushpile I found in 12' of water in the lower lake, but it looks like Will is right about the fish being fat. This girl was only 18" long but weighed 5-9!!! Fattest largemouth I have ever seen.

She was only in my livewell long enough for a quick snapshot and then released back where she came from.

Water temp is now up to 65-67 degrees, but didnt sniff a bite shallow. Quiet a few boats on the lake.
