Yeah, something just does not sound right.

I am not trying to defend the CL listing, BUT - it is possible the "Uncle" owned a repair/electronics shop.
Some of the local shops around my area have dozens of trolling motors and a lot do not have mounts for them.
People will take the trolling motor only into the shop and not remove the bracket from there boat - just bring in the motor, then after repairs are made they either cant afford to pick them up or just abbandon them.
Again, I am not saying these AREN'T hot motors, I am only saying "It is possible to have several motors without mounts in that situation". and there are a lot of little mom & pop shops closing their doors these days.

Thanks for the post on the "fishy" looking Craigs List add. Not many guys would do what's right and put that out there to try and help a fellow angler who might have been ripped off. A lot of guys would be concerned that a bunch of yahoo's would jump at the opportunity to tell you why you might be wrong.....but, I guess they need to add their two cents instead of just saying thanks. Anyhow....Thanks!

Take it from someones who has had 2 trolling motors stolen...it does happen and they get them quick,almost caught the last guy.
It doesnt hurt to be cautious.

can't hurt to have the law check them out. if they're legal they have nothing to hide. if they are hot somebody might get there trolling motor back

Many times dishonest people/thieves will get others around them to sell stuff for them thereby giving the appearance of up and up deals......not saying that is the case here but I have been around a long time and this seems strange that there are no mounts with these motors. I sure would steer clear of this situation. JMHO.

Now have we really turned into a nation of "tolerance"?? Not wanting to be a little suspicous of someone that might be selling some stolen stuff, becuase we might hurt someone's feelings if they are questioned about where they came up with an unusual amount of particular items that just happen to be w/o the hardest part to steal. Really??? What happened to do unto others and looking out for your fellow man???

Well, the guy that bought my stolen Honda Four Stoke four months ago off C/L must have wondered why there was no gas line!!? But at the price he got it at he probably did not care (I won it on e-Bay three days earlier, but the smuck 'smelled a rat' and did not allow me try to 'buy it back'. Fell through as the cops said they 'were too busy' to help me set up the sting- A--holes). Two thousand dollar motor. Happened just outside of San Fran. at the Delta, absolute bummer and my faith in the law went south!

Ask the lady who her uncle is and where his shop was, as 'you'd like to see if he has any extra troling motor parts". Maybe the cops over there give a hoot- I pray so.

Ask for the serial numbers and call the manufacturer to see if they have been reported as stolen.
