Thought I would pass this info. along, maybe someone else if looking for a solution to this problem.
I like to use 1/16oz Road Runners or Crappie Thunders in the spring to locate crappie that are preparing to spawn. The only problem is the #4 hooks are small and weak. Sometimes bigger crappie will straighten the hook out before you can get them to the boat.
At Bass Pro today I picked up some 1/16th oz. Road Runner Pro Series jigheads with a larger #2 hook. They come with willow leaf blades but I will probably change some of them over to the small colorado blades.

These have Bleeding Bait hooks too. I'm hoping these will do better. I wish they would make some with sickle hooks someday. The willow blade makes it fall faster.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I have a rookie question..why the weighted bobber? What is the benefit? I pick them up all the time from the creek banks when I fish the creeks and never could figger out what for?? I just use a slip bobber that the line goes through the little plastic tube.
Put the plug in.

sbump26- the weighted bobber makes it cast further with less effort giving you better control when fishing tight spots or when it's windy. Also, sits up quicker and straighter. However not as sensitive if looking for a soft bite.
