hello all, hello guy and ernest. i usually frequent the bass fishing forums but i stumbled across something over the last couple of days that i thought some of yall might like to know. i just installed a new graph on the console and have been lookin for the bigger largemouth bite on grapevine so i have been forcing my self to stay off the banks and am targeting specific main-lake stucture. there are a couple of mainlake points way up the northwest side of the lake that have been producing some decent bass. backing off of them i found a ledge or a drop off thats probably a couple hundred yards off of the bank that instantly drops from 14 to 30 feet. i have been marking tons of fish right on the edge. ill zig zag the ledge for about a 1/4 mile and drop marker buoys so i can keep my presentation in the strike zone the entire time. first pass down it was w/ a Norman DD-22 deep divin crank bait and landed a 2 lb plus crappie. came back w/ a tail kicker and caught some more. not the right species but definately found a solid pattern to catch slabs. i thought about tying on a crappie jig or a drop shot but that just wouldnt be fair to the fish... laugh not sure if anyone here is interested but i hope this helps someone locate a mighty fine dinner. oh, and if ya happen to stumble across a big largemouth or have any left overs, will ya give me a shout on the bass fishing page? thank you.

Fishermen by nature are optimists. Their glass is half full and needs more ice.

Senko,
Thanks for the info, but I was there yesterday afternoon and know exactly what you mean about the quality of the crappie, and as far as the GPS coordinates go.........we REALLY don't need them, if you know what I mean laugh laugh .

Guy's right, I don't want to find half the metroplex out there fishing for crappie. I'll have to find it just like you did, just luck into it. Hopefully I will find this spot on my own if not it will be there the next time.

Hey senko9S - maybe some of us crappie folk could clear that area out for you and make room for some nice bass. You seem like a nice guy so I will do it as a favor to you.

Sounds like you found a good bass spot if only those monster slabs would get out of the way.

Let me know if I can help in any way smile

Greg

Yep, next thing you know there'll be boat docks built all around the lake and they'll start calling it Cedar Creek North. rolleyes
