just thought I'd let ya'll know that humminbird just came out with an update for your units to add down imaging to your unit. it gives you a much better view of what's down there on your right side side image because it turns the side imaging on it's axis so that it looks like you're looking at the water column directly from the side ... kinda like you're standing on bottom looking across bottom.

be sure to reset your unit to it's default settings before you update it ... if you don't you will have to send it back to the factory to get it fixed.

go to www.humminbird.com then click on "Support" then create an account and register your unit ... gotta have the serial number available in order to register it ... that's on the plate on the back of your unit. then if you have the cable and humminbird pc program you can update it that way or you can use an sd/mmc chip and copy the update to that chip ... gotta have an sd/mmc reader/writer and the sd chip to do that. or get someone to do it for you that has one. then reset your unit to default settings then plug the sd chip in your unit and turn it back on and it'll update it

the reason I posted this is because it's not widely known that this update is available unless you've been going to their web site or get their emails regularly. I don't think you can update the 797 units with this update.

Humminbird has just announced it has figured out a way to get Down Imaging update to work with the 797c2 current hardware. Software will be released soon. Stay tuned as we will deliver a special notice when it becomes available.

Or you can always check your account at www.humminbird. com under support tab to find the software update files.

Tiny, I've herd the SI's are good for locating and identifing cats. Have you got one your using? If so can you ID catfish with them?

Thanks Tiny--also Bama cats look like a foot ball-A friend showed me and im not good at it--If you can go out with Mark Parker on RC He can teach you a lot and catch a lot of fish at the same time..

don't know about the down imaging to help identify cats but you can do that with the side imaging ... there's a bit of a learning curve but if you stake fish out and go by them you can do it. haven't seen the down imaging yet as our lakes are frozen over.
