I currently use Eagle Claw jig hooks. The last few bags that I've got from Barlow's have had a lot of irregulars in there (hooks straight, no eye, etc...). Has anybody tried the Matzuo Sickle Bend hooks, Mustad, or Sohumi hooks? I think that I might want to change.
Nate Tight lines!

Nate:
Sandwich Maker from Snyder used some different type jig hooks when making jigs in the past. See if you can get ahold of him as they had a completely different look, they were gold in color. Although odd looking hooks, they were exceptional in their hooking ability plus the jigs he tied were just flat crappie catching jigs as good as any I have used.

Nate, The Matzuo 9044 makes an awesome jig. Actually easier to tie than the standard 575 style hook. They are extremely sharp and hold their edge. I didn't care for the Sohumi that much. They seemed brittle. I use the VMC and Matzuo nearly all the time. Best price by far on the VMC is Shorty's Hook Sales, 202 S. County Line Road, Windsor, Missouri, 65360. 800-723-8508 or 800-661-7033. He's a wholesaler, so you need a tax#. (Or a friend with one) They are very well versed on the good and the bad about different hooks, and are a lot of help if you tell them what you're trying to do. They're only there from 8 to 5 CST. Thanks for the compliment Ron.

Nate I've used all of the types you mentioned. I agree with Sandwich Maker about the sohumi's ... they are a little brittle but economical . The Matzuo's are very sharp and have a larger gap between the jig body and point (better hook set).I mostly use Mustads. they are also pretty resonable. ....Dont catch'em all !!
